What the heck!?!

A couple of weeks ago, we got a call from our stake president. He wanted to meet with us that night (I had never actually met the man). All day I was thinking that he wanted Andy to do something for our upcoming stake conference. To our surprise, and somewhat shock, he asked if Andy would accept the calling as second counselor in the bishopric! Of course he said he would. We were both relieved when he was finally called, sustained, and set apart this last Sunday. The cat is out of the bag.
I've been really impressed with Andy and how he has stepped up and taking everything in stride. Ever since he got the call, he's had the attitude of it's just another calling. Which is totally true! I think the hardest part of all of this (totally selfish on my part) is that I don't think they'll let me stay in the Young Women's for much longer. So sad! But I'm not trying to think of that, and just enjoy it while it lasts!
What I find funny from this is everyone's reactions. I've gotten everything from 'congrats' to 'ha,ha'.

Ok, so I haven't seen you in the last couple of days- therefore I haven't been able to tell either one of you guys 'congrats'. I think that is awesome. Initially, I thought, wow, he's young. But then I thought, what the heck am I saying... We've had friends who were called to be bishops even younger. Maybe its because the bishopric in this ward is slightly older, compared to the majority ward make-up anyway. My only other thought was, he already gets home late, and now he will have to go in to work earlier (I suspect) so he can attend meetings. Leave it to me to thing about everything, even things that don't concern me. Let us know if you need anything... We are here to help with the 'transition.' Oh, and I also thought it was cool his folks were here to watch him be sustained.

It was momentary surprise when they called him, but the split-second later it was just a matter of fact "yeah, that's about right.." AND can I tell you how excited we are to have an ear in the bishopric for primary! Tee hee hee... (ladylike maniacal laughter). PLEASE call us if you get lonely- we LOVE company and I'm sure the kids would enjoy playing together! And speaking of heros- I think you top the list!
